When interviewing with a new employer do you have to disclose that you have Multiple Sclerosis? I mean I do have to miss days here and there for doctor appointments.

According to the ADA you are only required to disclose if you need to request special accommodation because of your condition. (Like modifications to a work station because of a disability). Otherwise you have no obligation nor can they deny you a job just based on your diagnosis as long as you can fulfill the core duties of the job. Check out the disclosure section on the National MS Society's website, very informative.

If you don't want them to know just say that 1 time a month you have a Dr.s appoint. That's all you need to say, there are laws that prevent them from asking anything else. These same laws protect you from disclosing any more as well. I didn't say anything about my disease until I felt comfortable letting my supervisor know.

MS promotes daily adjustments mentally and physically, when job searching, make sure the position and company can accommodate the daily changes. Keep in mind the company focus will probably be profit margins.

During an interview, the focus should be abilities not disabilities. If you're confident that you can perform the job with MS factor, disclosure is not necessary.

AlexForgott, not to laugh but people at my last job thought I was an alcoholic cause I parked the way I walked, fell in the office, walked into walls, tripped, etc until my doctor put me on leave and then they felt bad.
