I tried an AFO on my left leg for the foot drop (and now a little drag)...but it changed my gait so much that my right leg felt like I had shin splints...so, looking for another. Ideally I would like something I could wear in my bare feet (because I am usually that way)...Any advice?
Have you ever thought about a walk-aide device? I suggest talking to your neuro about them or simply you
can get info on line. I have one and not only can you walk barefoot but you can wear whatever shoes you
like.......Good Luck!
I had the WALKAIDE before and loved it..had to return it cuz couldn't afford it...bought 1 from a friend..brand new..but can't get it reproggramed....
There's an OTC one called Dorsi-Lite. Goes on front of foot so can be used with without shoes. Not custom so can be uncomfortable. I have a custom AFO, based off a Richie Brace. It's short and is hinged so I can drive with it.

Well and fortunately most all afo have to be put into a shoe. I've never found one that I could wear barefoot.
