Starting treatment...

Question

Question... On Monday November 6 I go to the doctor to decide what medication I should take. I don't know what type of MS I have, but I do know I have lesions on my brain, brain stem and spinal cord. What would you suggest I start with??? I'm so confused 😔😔😔😔

Tysarbri  the best treatment   i know it comes with risks but i recommend it i was on it for ten years and it cjanged my life

It depends on the type of MS you have; there are 4 types ; if you have RRMS or Relapsing Remitting MS then after being put on injections subcutaneous Copaxone, intramuscular Avonex, and now capsules Gilenya personally I would recommend  Gilenya. I have gone nearly 3 years without  RELAPSE  on it  and you take 1 capsule/daily.

Did they at least give you options to choose from? My first neuro said pick between Copaxone and Avonex

Don't be confused, first speak with your neurologist, then make sure you do research on any of the medications prescribed. Good luck

I recommend Avonex if they supply it with a gun as it is intramuscular. In fact I got guns for both of these. Copaxone is the subcutaneous one and daily; Avonex is once a week and as I said intramuscular. They both came with pro's and con's. I found C stung ( like  a beesting ) when I 1st started using it, but if you take a panadol 1/2 hour before injecting that helped as did a pack of frozen peas, wrapped in a towel, on the injection site after jab took the sting away. I used it for 4 1/2 years before being changed by Pharmac ( Our National Drug controller and supplier)  onto  Avonex which I used for 3 years before being changed to Gilenya by my Neurologist and I couldn't be happier on that.It makes travelling overseas so much easier.
