With the current "opioid Crisis" most Doctors will no longer prescribe these medications. People with chronic pain and pain from diseases are being left without these needed drugs. Marijuana is often suggested but not legal in most states. So I am wondering what pain patients are going to do as they are being left to suffer.
I know that Marijuana is not legal, but my pain was getting worse. I was addicted to opioids for about 4 years, and I moved to Texas where nobody would give me anything for pain. I delt with it, but I found someone who made Marijuana that I put in my coffee and drink. Talk about a life changer! I don't do it to get high, but it does take away most of my pain.
I understand most of you folks in the US are fighting the issue of being dropped or whatever with your pain meds. The last timeI was at my doc's I told him and asked what he thought. He told me that the oath they take precludes any doctor, where ever they are, to do no harm. HIs next response astounded me... he said that for a country like the US that is so into suing everyone, he could not understand why you can't bring a class-action
law suit against every doctor who refuses to give appropriate pain medication to his patients. So why....
Thanks for sharing @A MyMSTeam Member - I have never heard of Kraton - but use CBD and MMJ with high success, so I will look into Kraton as well. I was diagnosed in 2015 but if I trace back to when my symptoms began it was a spinal cord injury and total loss of consciousness back as a teenager (I'm in my 40's now!). Likewise, I have also had bad reactions from a lot of medications, even OTC, so I am very thankful that CBD and MMJ are working so well for me. If you ever feel like chatting with me more about Kraton or just in general, I'm interested in learning from you, especially since we have some key things in common. XX
Look into Kratom, CBD, and/or medical marijuana. I use a combo of the 3. I don't need to be a slave to pain meds anymore and I'm managing the pain. I have good and bad days, I still have days where I can't walk. I was scared to make the change from opiates to my new way of managing the pain, it wasn't easy, but I did it. Nothing has changed in my life other than I feel better. Like I said, I still have bad days, but now I'm using a safer/healthier method for pain management. This is my personal experience, I'm not saying this is the right way. It's just what works for me. I also had a spinal cord injury in 2011. After many surgeries I was diagnosed with MS. It's been quite a journey the past 8 years trying to get my life back together. I had some bad side effects from some medications, and that's what drove me to finding CBD, Kratom, and medical marijuana.
This is a question that many of us ask and the real answer is not nice. No matter what the disease is it is unconscionable to leave a patient in pain. The results of doing that is that without an option we will be offing ourselves, one after another. That makes me SICK because the whole issue is political and nothing to do with pain medication turning us into addicts. It has to do with their (doctors) insurance - if you practise, prescribe it, they will increase your insurance payments until you don't want to practise anymore. They know what the risks are but they insist on kissing their own...... My suggestion is do some research, get a pain specialist and be prepared to move to another state or another country that can provide you with the medication that YOU RIGHTLY DESERVE. Would like to have you on my team @A MyMSTeam Member.
