Anybody Using Plegridy And Have Extremely Low Platelet Count? Developing Lumps In Lymph Nodes As Well.
I've been on Plegridy for 1.5 yrs. Platelet count is very low, I'm developing lymph node lumps, have lost about 30 lbs since last summer and don't get hunger so I make myself eat. I'm really worried and my GP isn't showing the concern I think he should. Maybe he just doesn't want me to worry. CAT scan Mar 14. I called the MS Clinic but haven't heard back yet.
Hi Jilltay50 ,
I too am on Plegridy but my platelet count recently fell month on month. I've been having monthly blood tests to monitor things since going on Plegriday but when my platelet count caused concern, my Neuro decided to put me on a 'Plegridy Holiday' and prescribed Folic Acid tablets.
After a few misses of my injections my platelet count came back up to acceptable levels so they've decided to re-start my injections but also keep me on the Folic Acid tabs. I restart the injections on the 21st March and then wait and see what happens.
Hope this is of use to you.
Best wishes
Haydn
Hi Welshman. Neither one said anything about how to help increase the platelets but I did some research on my own & found out that avocados can really help so I'm eating 2 a day. I go for blood work mid month so I'll see if they help. My GP is sending me for a couple more tests to make sure it's not a scary bone marrow issue. Regardless tomorrow is another day wide open to many possibilities!!
@A MyMSTeam Member I don't think I was more exhausted that I am normaly - I could sleep all day given the chance. Fortunately No Lymph Nodes for me. Curiously, my appetite did drop off coming to think about it, and now that I'm still on the Plegridy holiday, I always clean my plate and am a bit like Oliver - 'Please Sir, can I have some more'. Did your GP/Neuro talk about Folic Acid tablets as they seem to be resposible for upping my platelets? Take care.
@A MyMSTeam Member were you exhausted and started th get lumps in your lymph nodes in your neck? I am now on a Plegridy holidsy as well. Thanks for the input.
Heard back from MS Clinic and am stopping Plegridy until some answers are found.
