I saw my general practitioner when this started and he attributed it to low blood pressure. If you have this, how do you treat it??
My doc diagnosed it as "orthostatic hypotension." Not much to do for it except always remember to get up very slowly. I have this for over 50 years (just like MS for over 50 years). I take b-vitamins to help, but still if I get up quickly I will "see stars" and almost fall down. Just another thing I must learn to adapt and move slowly.
Ps this happened to me earlier this week.. I'm in a ms flare and I woke up in am dizziness lightheaded I think it was due to low blood sugar
This came up in my email today, and it just so happened I have been dizzy and sick to my stomach for the last couple of days. I don't have low enough blood pressure (110/76) to cause this, but it may be sugar. How do you test it, not being a diabetic. I still feel like crap, even though I have had something to eat and drink. I've been stable, but under a tremendous amount of stress/anxiety recently, which I am thinking could affect my M.S. I haven't fallen in the last year, but used to fall and knock myself out all the time. I am very tired of getting old right now, as everything is happening: losing teeth, cataracts, hair loss, and wrinkles. It's bad enough to have to deal with M.S., but all these other things too? I'm getting tired. Anyone else in my place?
I've had this for years, (Of course, been dx w/MS for years). When it's low enough that I really start feeling bad, weak, tired, I start eating anything with salt (sunflower seeds) and drink lots of fluids.
I experienced what my doctors called a syncope after standing - total blackout!
After lots of appointments and tests the consensus was for me to drink more decaffeinated and eat more salt. Following orders - haven't had another blackout but keep coming close - just stand up slower.
Is it an MS issue - perhaps. MRI showed some lesion growth and the dreaded black dot - but my MS presented as loss of hearing and balance issues.
