I recently started taking tecfidera and after every dose my eyes get super heavy and all i want to do is sleep. I'm so tired. Has this happened to anyone? Is there something that i can do or take with the tecfidera to help me stay awake?
yes! Me too! My solution: Peppermint beadlets! They are my favorite! They're also great for upset tummy, which Tecfidera can cause sometimes - so that prevents that from happening as well! XX
I used to take it but I didn't like the side effects that happened to me, I guess everyone is different but I used to come out in a rash all over my body and i would feel like i was having a hot flush with itching.
@A MyMSTeam Member one more possibly helpful tip I just learned: I recently read about how Tecfidera is an anti-fungal and so that makes sense now that we need to drink a TON more water to not get dehydrated. I find that if I don't consume water diligently all day, that's when I have more issues (ears burning, GI, etc.). I wish I had known that earlier! Could have saved me some rough days, especially at the start of taking it. Good luck to you on it! I haven't had any new symptoms on it so I'm hopeful! :-) XX
@A MyMSTeam Member if you are an EO person, DigestZen works really (!) well too for the GI issues that can come with Tecfidera. It only bothers me in that way occasionally, honestly because I consistently take it with a lot of protein, but when it does happen, if I rub a little DigestZen in and around my belly button at the first sign of discomfort, the discomfort is gone in 10 minutes before it can morph into something much less pleasant. Great advice from my acupuncturist - I was skeptical but her advice was right on! Peppermint works too - I swallow those beadlets when I have a general upset stomach, but definitely the blend in DigestZen applied topically to the tummy works best of all for the Tecfidera induced GI distress. @A MyMSTeam Member. Never thought of that. I know I was told to eat a but of protein when you take tecfidera. My stomach was hurting bad one time. But I didn't know that
