Wow.! this situation sounds pretty confusing with so many unanswered questions (been there). Before we dive into your questions, I have a couple you might consider asking your doc. None of these are meant at all to be mean but this is your health. If what you have ISN'T MS, what else are you exploring? Do you trust another neuro to ask about both LP results? This isn't pushing for answers, it's more considering all options and being sure of medical opinions. Now, I only had one spinal tap(LP) but my sense is that the results of this test shouldn't be marketable different. I had lessions all over my brain and spine and a week's worth of tests ruling out a bevy of other maladies were performed. Just know, you will find the answer no matter how hard finding the way there is. I know it's scary and unsettling but you are closer to the answer now than 6 mobths ago

I do have a lesion on the base of my spine, the one I had higher up has healed/disappeared. So it's just the one lesion on my spine now. I've only had the one LP.

I had 2 l.p. and both were normal. I was dx'd based on Optic Neuritis and MRI's. Sounds like your neuro is doing a good job following through. Most commonly lesions are in the brain, following with C spine. Thoracic lesions are uncommon and there are never lesions in the lumbar spine.

Did you have MRI with dye? In my circumstance, the dye proved the MS diagnosis because there was an active attack, I would certainly consider a second opinion while you await the the next MRI, you should be able to get copies of all your records and scans
