Lately I've been awakened by the sensation of falling. I was taking a nap this afternoon and my body jerked and I bit the inside of my mouth. What the heck?

Members responded to the question about jerking awake with the falling sensation by sharing that it is a common experience tied to MS symptoms like spasticity, restless leg syndrome, and sleep apnea. Several members described muscle spasms and leg contractions waking them at night, with some finding relief through medications like Neupro patches, gabapentin, or medical marijuana, while others mentioned magnesium supplements. A recurring theme was the comfort of knowing others share these frustrating nighttime experiences, along with encouragement to speak with a doctor about treatment options.

MSF 44 Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS)
I hope this helps.
Symptom: Involuntary rhythmical movements of the trunk, limbs, head and/or vocal cords
Tremor, the most common movement disorder in MS, can be the least treatable and most debilitating symptom of MS.
Other movement disorders seen in MS include: tonic spasms (spasticity), focal dystonia, focal/segmental myoclonus, chorea, parkinsonism and restless leg syndrome.
Treatment
• Referral to PT for balance/coordination exercises;
• Referral to OT for tools; weights on limbs, eating or writing utensils
• Propranolol clonazepam, hydroxyzine, primidone, isoniazid, topiramate, buspirone, ondansetron, gabapentin (evidence is lacking on the efficacy of any medication; however, a number of different agents have been tried)
• Other: Deep brain stimulation may be considered.
I find that these drugs knock me on my ASS and are worse than putting up with (RLS)

Medical marijuana aka MMJ works for me.
I use 1 CBD to 9 THC it takes the edge off of everything.

I do know that on top of the jerking, I also have hallucinations right after falling asleep or on awaking. Just found out that I have obstructed sleep apnea (where the throat is blocked) along with central sleep apnea (thisonehappenswhenyourbraindoesn'tsend the signal for you to breathe, it's a lot scarier to think about. ) Going to get a mouth piece to wear at night and really hoping it helps with the symptoms.
