Has anyone gotten a service dog and what does it take to have a service dog?

The last time I looked into getting a service dog it was for my two children who have autism. At that time insurance would not help pay for getting the animal, and they are about $18,000, if they are trained and ready to go. I think you may have to google places near you who train service dogs and find someone local to help guide you. I'm sorry I'm not of more use.

I'm on my 4 the great Dane Service dog. I love them as they are the right size for stability and mobility. Mine also pull my wheel chair and the shopping cart for me. They also do seizure control and med reminder for me.
I have less issues with training the Danes than any other dogs.
