My son has MS and it has hit hard. He is has party SS benefits but I am having a hard time getting full benefits for him. Does anyone know a Texas SS attorney. I also need to know who I can contact for Assistant programs. We are in the process of building him a guest home and wanted to know if there are any programs out there that can help with the financial part of it. I am also needing to know who to contact about me getting assistance for being his full time caregiver.
Just a quick note here" $2200.00 is the maximum amount any person can be reimbursed for using either a relative or a professional care giver. BUT the rules are very strict, the amount is always based on income and expenses as shown on your income or SSI statements and it is NOT a guarantee that just because you want the help, you will automatically qualify for it. EVERY case is different. I would start by calling your local SSA field office and making an appointment with a benefits review specialist. They can pull up your finances and helping you determine if you will qualify and what information and documentation you must provide in order to qualify for the programs. They are generally known as Aid and Attendance Awards. Not a guarantee, every single case is going to be specific to that person. SSA is not a state system, it is a Federal Government program. Do some research, get some basic info before you show up in person. You might save yourself a lot of time and disappointment.
Is he on Medicaid. I googled it once and it stated long term care givers are paid $2200. I’m in NJ so I don’t know if the laws are different. Good luck 💪🏼😎
In Chicago, there is a helpful program called department of Rehabilitation Services. Otherwise, I would get in contact with MS Society, they may have some info about the help needed.
These are really good questions for the Dept of social services. I wish I could help more but Im not familiar with Texas
