I've started to walk weird, that's the only way I could describe it, it comes and goes but is getting more frequent. I saw a vid of someone with CP and I thought that's the way I'm starting to walk. I googled it (I knew it was something that happens at birth) but it was interesting to read that it is due to damage to white matter in the brain. If we (as MS'ers) are getting white matter damage (I've seen a reference to that in a couple of my charts, so the docs dismissed MS, until they didn't)… read more

yes 100 %. I've been walking like that for years. When I go outside for a longer walk, I use a rollator to keep my balance.

I have secondary progressive MS and I definitely can relate. I sometimes get self conscious, when people look at me like I’m drunk. Especially, if I’m using my cane and it can be a great help or it literally just gets in my way.

@A MyMSTeam Member thanks so much for that info! Weird on the adrenaline, I get all kinds of funky when my adrenaline kicks in (super excited about something or really upset, any type of adrenaline) sends my MS into overdrive and fast! I'll have to talk to my doc about my new walk I have. She doesn't know what's going on I don't see her for another few months. I did get caught on our camera walking this way so I will show her that and ask her about spastic gait. My walking also seems to get really bad when I'm in a lot of pain and over doing it which probably sends my adrenaline into a bit of a kick. Thanks so much for the reply!
