My symptoms go way worse now that we have sunny days. I barely can go outside. Any tips?
My fiance purchased me cooking towels from Amazon. Put them in freezer, take out and place around neck or on forehead. They are a lifesaver. Also, he bought me a neck cooling fan, also from Amazon. That too helps when it's hot and muggy outside.
I have a cooling cap that I keep in my freezer. You can fit it over your head and cool your body very quickly. I also keep a huge drink with mostly ice when I'm out. Out here we are about to come into our hottest time of the year. Supposed to be over 100 this weekend in Lubbock. I kind of get a shut-in summer blues the way people up north do in the winter. Last summer was awful. Drought & high 90's & 100's for close to 4 months. This year isn't as bad though.
When it's hot and high humidity here in Virginia, I stay inside my house in the air conditioning. Also I drink ice water to keep my core cooled, sometimes put an ice pack on the back of my neck as well. I recently changed a trip to Nashville, TN from July, hopefully going in September. Traveling for me in the heat of summer is the dumbest thing I can do. I have LEARNED the hard way. NOT to do that anymore.
Thank you so much for the tips! I'm still a bit lost with European MS organizations because my german is really bad, but will dig into it!
Cooling accessories help - my favorites are from Oro sports and polar products but if you go to the National ms society’s website and search ‘cooling product vendor’ it should pull up a pdf with a list of vendors and discount codes. I’m very heat intolerant but live in central NC and love to garden and cooling products have allowed me to continue being outside. Hope they help!
With warm weather here and not feeling well again, how do you coupe with the heat and your symptoms?
