That is about the time I "stepped up my game" as it was about the same time as a whole new set of options were available- the B Cell killers and I went on Ocrevus. Now enough time has passed that they are finding that while new attacks/MRI changes are pretty much stopped the underlying progression continues. This describe me exactly. I am switching off Ocrevus over to Aubagio as it is better at slowing brain volume loss which is now my larger issue. But no...I won't go off DMTs.
I am actually in SPMS now- transitioned about the time I changed to Ocrevus from the initial less effective CRAP drugs that were initially available
Ocrevus is the only DMT approved for PPMS and it is also for SPMS. It is the most commonly prescribed DMT in the US currently for the newly diagnosed. I think this is because you initially don't know what you have and they have all their bases covered if they go with O. It is also used for NMO so if there is any chance you actually have that it is also appropriate.
Both the medications you have mentioned say the are for relapsing remitting MS, so they are definitely going to help you some, hopefully. I wish I was still at that stage.
