Yes, I had one in October to confirm MS. You don’t have to lay flat anymore for 72 hours and it was a quick procedure. The only pain I had was when the needle went through a muscle and a slight back ache after the procedure. Be sure to hydrate for at least 24-48 hours before the LP, helps tremendously.
Yes but I recommend doing what the med techs say to do after the tap, stay lying down and try not to move to much (I think). The worst part were the horror stories I was told about the LP procedure often told to me by people who had never had a tap. It is rarely as bad as you will hear though I don't remember it as a cake walk and a tip from me, don't try to lighten the mood with something from This is Spinal Tap. Though I'm a big fan, I'm among the minority.
