I dont/can't do anything with my 4 small grandkids, I feel like my life is setting in my recliner half asleep or sleeping! Constant pain.. help!
I’m currently taking 200 MG tablets of MODAFINI twice daily totaling 400 mg a day combined with 10 MG Tablets of AMPHETAMINE/DEXTROAMPHETAMINE 3 times daily totaling 30 mg daily. The first time I took the Adderall it kept me up for an entire day however my body very quickly adjusted to it and my Nuroligist and I have been increasing the daily does 10 mg a time every few years in fact I just, last week requested another 10 mg increase from 30 to 40 mg a day. This time he’s hesitant and getting a pharmacist specializing in MS involved this time before adding the additional 10 mg out of an abundance of caution. There are a few prescription medications you can talk wirh your provider about I’ve listed them below. It may not be a complete list but I’ve covered most of the popular ones.
- Amantadine (doesn’t work very well for Me)
- Modafinil (Works pretty good)
- armodafinil (worked ok but required higher doses than the Modafinil Does but did lasts longer throughout the day)
- Methylphenidate ( Doesn’t work at all for me)
- Adderall (Works very well)
- bupropion ( Really helped with my energy and improved my mood however this was taken away from me because it does have a slight risk of increasing the chance of having seizures and I’ve had 5 of them, so they took it from me unwillingly)
There are also some over the counter vitamins that may help a little but to be sure to consult your.doctor before taking any new supplements I’ve listed some of them below.
Vitamins
- D3 (now taking (3) 2,000 mg tablets daily, Low levels for years cost me all of my teeth to breakage, chipping, and rot.)
- B Complex (Seems to help me noticeable)
- B12 and Biotin (Included in my B-Compex)
- Folate (haven’t tried yet)
- CoQ10 (haven’t tried yet)
- Acetyl-L-Carnitine (haven’t tried yet)
- Alpha-Lipoic Acid (haven’t tried yet)
- Magnesium (haven’t tried yet)
I was diagnosed at 42 but Ike everyone else in retrospect had symptoms back in my early 20’s. Anyway this is the big reason why we ask when were you diagnosed with ms instead of when did you get ms! At least you got diagnosed finally now you can begin working on specific treatments, I initially started on Avonex, it took 1 1/2;years to figure out that it was making me worse so I changed to Tecfidera and have been on it without issues since 2014. Best of luck to you best advice I can give you is educate yourself about various ms symptoms and treatments.
It took awhile for starting medication after I was diagnosed, like 1-2 months. Over past 10 years, my medication has changed 3 times. Currently doing Ocrevuis infusion. Stay as physically strong as you can and eat healthy
Ask about Provigil for fatigue and alpha lipoic acid for inflammation.
Hello @A MyMSTeam Member I agree with @A MyMSTeam Member, that you can go ahead and get married. And MS isn't the end though the diagnosis itself is very disconcerting. Then we get used to it.
Wow, I'm so sorry you've been through so much. I am glad that you finally got diagnosed. It doesn't sound like your fiance is going anywhere at this point! I think you can marry him if you want to! 😂 I hope that going on meds can at least stabilize you.
