Just because you're not showing new lesions you still have an inflammation all over.

@A MyMSTeam Member. My arthritis and joint pain have also gotten worse. I haven't lost any hair but mine is kept very short.

I am also BMS...burned out. I stopped DMTs 12 years ago but hair falling out and brain fog with headaches are increased. I did notice that with age arthritis and joint issues DDD have added to my symptoms.

It's possible to experience worsening symptoms in multiple sclerosis (MS) even without new lesions appearing on MRI scans. This could be due to several reasons:
1. Neurodegeneration: MS can cause progressive nerve damage or loss that isn't always accompanied by new lesions. This ongoing degeneration can lead to worsening symptoms over time.
2. Previous Lesions: Previous damage from older lesions can continue to affect neurological function, leading to a gradual increase in symptoms.
3. Silent Progression: Sometimes, MS progresses silently, meaning that the disease may be worsening even though this isn't clearly visible on standard MRI scans.
It's important to discuss these changes with your neurologist, who might adjust your treatment plan or explore other interventions to help manage your symptoms effectively.
