I went through menopause at 52 years of age.. same as my mother.. yes, she mentioned to me when it started for her... for me, I had quite a few sweats.. inner heat made me more uncomfortable.. at 70, I still get the inner heat periods.. though they don't last as long as when I was changing .. I am of french hugenot, scottish, french and american indian heritage...

My goodness, the hot flashes would do me in. I would quickly take off layers including socks to get cool fast. Good luck, @A MyMSTeam Member!

Managing both MS and perimenopause can be challenging. Here are some tips based on my knowledge base:

- Consult Your Doctors: Regularly discuss your symptoms with both your neurologist and gynecologist to ensure you are managing both conditions effectively.
- Monitor Symptoms: Keep a symptom diary to track which symptoms are related to MS and which might be due to perimenopause.
- Hormone Testing: Your doctor can perform blood or urine tests to confirm if you are in perimenopause.
- Hot Flashes: Be mindful that hot flashes can intensify MS symptoms. Try to stay cool and avoid overheating.
- Sleep Hygiene: Prioritize good sleep habits to combat fatigue and sleep disturbances common in both conditions.
- Mental Health: Be aware that both MS and perimenopause can increase the risk of depression and anxiety. Seek support if needed.
- Community Support: Engage with support networks like MyMSTeam to share experiences and get advice from others going through similar transitions.

Always discuss any new or worsening symptoms with your healthcare providers to tailor your treatment plan effectively.
