Yes, custom orthotics and shoe inserts can be helpful for managing foot and ankle issues in MS. If your doctor thinks orthotics might help, they may refer you to an orthotist - a specialist who is specifically trained in fitting braces and orthotics. These professionals can create custom solutions tailored to your specific needs.

The right footwear combined with proper orthotics is important - shoes should fit well, provide good ankle support, and be lightweight to prevent muscle fatigue. Custom orthotics can help provide additional stability and proper positioning of your foot and ankle while walking. For more comprehensive support, some people may benefit from an ankle foot orthosis (AFO), which is a more substantial device that supports the ankle, foot, and knee while preventing toe drag during walking. While AFOs can be very helpful for stability, they should be properly fitted since they may affect how your shoes fit and feel during daily activities.

I have foot drop too but since taking Ocrevus it's improved slightly. At least I'm not longer tripping myself at any given moment.

I haven't yet, I do have foot drop a so not sure if that would help. It's definitely something to pursue if it's bothering you. Way better to get it figured out instead of falling which I've done a lot. No fun!
