I have a serious loss of peripheral vision too . Could that be part of it? Or is the vision problem and starting to choke 2 separate problems? It's MS related and scary at times.

The choking and difficulty drinking you're experiencing is likely related to dysphagia, a common MS symptom that affects about one-third of people with MS. This condition can cause:
- Choking or coughing when drinking
- Difficulty controlling liquids in the mouth
- Problems with coordinating swallowing
- Taking longer to finish drinks Your vision problems and swallowing difficulties are both MS-related but stem from different areas of nerve damage. The swallowing issues occur when MS affects the nerves controlling throat and mouth muscles, while vision problems result from separate nerve damage. Both symptoms can make eating and drinking more challenging, as reduced peripheral vision could contribute to missing your mouth when drinking.

If you haven't already, it's important to discuss these symptoms with your neurologist, as early recognition and management of swallowing difficulties is crucial for your safety and comfort.

My peripheral vision is crap since having optic neuritis and I have major problems problems with swallowing. I'm on medication for it because my esophagus spasms a lot from the MS.
