It was an awful sensation where it felt like my head was moving sideways, and bobbing back and forth on my spine. I wrapped a winter scarf around my neck to experience some stability. It's like when you see a skelton and your head isn't attached to your body, just bobbing around. Yuck

Yes, neck stiffness and spasticity are experienced by many people with MS. Several MyMSTeam members have reported similar symptoms, including stiffness, pain, and difficulty with neck movement. Your description of needing stability support (using a scarf) is a common way people cope with these symptoms. Spasticity in MS occurs when nerve damage disrupts normal muscle movement, causing muscles to contract abnormally. This can affect any muscle in the body, including neck muscles. Cold temperatures and staying still (like during sleep) can make spasticity worse. It's important to discuss these symptoms with your neurologist, as there are several treatment options available, including muscle relaxants, physical therapy, and specialized exercises.

@A MyMSTeam Member I'll say a prayer you find a good reliable chiropractor; one who will actually help you. I've been seeing one for decades and all while having MS. He even saw me when I was in a wheelchair! God bless you πŸ™

I have spasticity in my neck and shoulders all the time and the only relief I get is not from medicine but gentle stretching and exercises. Everybody's spasticity hits them differently, I myself don't have spasms in my neck just extreme tightness.

I occassionally experience head tremors. My neurologist wondered if it was due to spasms in my neck.
