So where I live is experiencing a measels outbreak. They’re telling people who are immunocompromised to do certain things.
I’m up to date with my vaccines but does MS make me immunocompromised?
MOA of DMTs are very different. Some are immune suppressing, some are immune depleting, some have a mechanism that just prevents immune cells from crossing the BBB, some sequester immune cells in thymus. this is something you should research for the DMT before starting and it should be shared decision making between you and your physician. FYI, 40 years ago before DMTs, disability was very quick and QoL was poor for MSers, now adays, MSers are doing much better, delaying disability and living better lives and doing better overall. I have made the decin to start DMTs right after diagnosis and made it over 30 years before RRMS went SPMS and even now, I still can walk, drive and live life. Life is all about choices.
Thanks everyone!
I’m on copaxone so I can face the outside world with no fear 💪🏻
if immunization tests show antibodies for measles, then you are probably good. I actually need the measles vacine but unable to do so because its a live vaccine and I am taking a dmt which prohibits me.
Your med may be suppressing you immune system.
Shalom Lani No . One thing has nothing to do with the other. MS is a genetic disorder autoimmune disease an Measles is a virus that attacks healthy cells
