Are sleep disturbances common after starting Ampyra?
Sleep problems are quite common with MS in general, affecting many people. While the search results don't specifically mention Ampyra causing insomnia, sleep disturbances can happen with various MS medications.
Since you've noticed this pattern starting a few days after beginning Ampyra, it's important to let your neurologist know. They can help determine if the medication is contributing to your sleep issues or if other MS-related factors might be at play.
In the meantime, some strategies that may help include:
- Following a relaxing bedtime routine
- Keeping a regular sleep schedule
- Limiting caffeine and alcohol, especially in the evening
- If you can't fall back asleep within 20 minutes, try getting up and doing a calm activity until you feel sleepy again
Keep track of when these sleep interruptions happen and any patterns you notice - this information will be helpful for your healthcare provider. Don't hesitate to reach out to your doctor sooner rather than later, as getting quality sleep is important for managing MS symptoms overall.

I'm not on anything and I sleep about 2 hours then wake up. I usually can go back to sleep but each time I go back to sleep, I sleep for about 2 hours.

I'm on Ocrevus, have been for 5 years. No sleep over an hour ever. Different for everyone so whatever AI says, ignore it.
