Have you heard about the carnivore diet helping with MS symptoms?

While the carnivore diet isn't specifically mentioned in MS research, several dietary approaches have shown promise for managing symptoms. The most studied diets for MS focus on reducing inflammation and include:

- The Swank Diet: Low in saturated fat, high in fruits and vegetables
- The Wahls Protocol: Emphasizes nutrient-dense vegetables, berries, and grass-fed/wild-caught proteins
- Ketogenic Diet: Very low carb (under 50g daily), high fat, which has shown reduced inflammation markers in MS

These diets generally emphasize whole foods and eliminate processed items, sugar, gluten, and dairy. Some MyMSTeam members have reported feeling better after cutting out certain foods and focusing on anti-inflammatory eating patterns.

Important considerations:

Before making drastic dietary changes, talk with your doctor or a registered dietitian. They can help you avoid nutrient deficiencies and ensure any new eating plan works with your current MS treatment. Diet should complement, not replace, your disease-modifying therapy.

If you do try a new diet, committing fully for at least 100 days can help you determine if it's making a difference in your symptoms.

I'm not exactly sure the carnivore diet is but we do eat meat, we also eat fruit and veggies, dairy. Our diet is, fresh if possible, frozen is our next choice and then canned. This does not include the dairy stuff. As long as our lab numbers are good, I see no reason to change.

I do the carnivore diet every six months or so but, never longer than two weeks at a time.

I don’t do the carnivore diet , but I heard it reduces symptoms. I was watching some videos from Dr. Anthony Chaffee and he has interviewed some MS patients who had success by switching to Carnivore Diet. Good luck to you and if you do try it , please update us on the results.
