I am a member of a local group, where we have many differing levels of this spiteful illness. I have noticed that there appears to be no 'rank structure', only support from everyone for everyone.

We are aware of course of those with more severe levels, and instead of turning a blind eye to this, there is greater recognition of the achievements in the light gym work that is part of the evening.

Members came together around the question of how to handle comparison within the MS community, with the overwhelming feeling being that ranking or comparing is simply not possible given how uniquely the disease affects each person. Several members shared personal experiences ranging from tremors and balance issues to optic nerve damage and being homebound, yet emphasized that mutual support and celebrating small wins matters far more than measuring suffering against one another. A recurring theme was that only someone living with MS truly understands it, and that shared empathy, encouragement, and community connection are what hold everyone together.

That's the thing with MS. No 2 cases are the same. What bothers some doesn't bother others and vice versa. You can't "rank" a person's level of discomfort without living in their shoes. We are all in it together and sharing our journey with it is vital to understanding it.

I used to feel so different from other people with MS I am bothered more with pain and balance issues. I can walk without assistance most days. I also have Type 1 diabetes. I feel blessed that my MS isn't worse than it is.
My neurologist took me off all meds except for some for the spasms that seem to cause the pain.
I do have days when I just rest. But if I can walk and drive I am up moving.

I respect others who have MS and I look for respect in turn. We don't need a rank. I think the way we all love on each other and hold each other up is cool.

That's the way it's meant to be, total support for each other.

As you know everyone with m.s. is different some people get help with medicine some don't you just have to ask anyone who has it and see what they say.
