I switched to it about a month ago, because I didn’t want to do injections anymore. So far so good. I was told to take it with food to minimize stomach upset, but if you don’t want to eat with it you don’t have to. It may cause hair thinning for some people. You have to have your liver enzymes checked every month for the first 6 months, and then once every 6 months after. It can raise blood pressure in some people as well.

The good news is that hair thinning with Aubagio usually isn't severe and typically doesn't last long. Most people don't need to stop the medication because of it. One MyMSTeam member shared: "I'm on Aubagio and have been for two years. I did have some hair thinning, but not so that anyone could notice. It only lasted a couple months and started at about month three."

Rare but serious side effects:
Blisters can occur rarely with Aubagio. The medication also requires appropriate contraception if you're of childbearing age, as it may increase the risk of birth defects.

It's worth discussing these potential side effects with your neurologist, along with your specific health situation, to determine if Aubagio is the right choice for you.

@A MyMSTeam Member I’m turning 70 this year and still on a DMT. I’m stable now but I don’t want to take a chance by discontinuing them.

Thanks everyone for your answers. I have decided to continue Avonex for now. My Neurologist wants me to continue DMT’s for now because I am stable even though I am over 65.
