I do not want side effects, since I am well past them on my current Medication. Which one is most recommended for RRMS for a female, 76 yo?
I took Aubagio with no problems. But after a few years with stable MRIs and being 67 or so at the time, my doctor told me I could stop if I wanted. I wanted to and 4 or so years later my MRIs show no changes. Some people don't feel comfortable stop taking a DMT and I understand that and they probably shouldn't. We all are different. I did discuss it with my doctor, and I do see her twice a year instead of just once. It is a little different for me since Aubagio was the first and only DMT I have used.
Thank you. I have been reading about the option to stop taking my DMT because of findings relevant to my age. It would surely be a relief, but I fear I am “one of those’ who’d worry about not being on medication and the chance MS acting up. I consider myself pretty self aware both mentally and physically and honestly, I do not think that between my other health issues that I have had an MS flare other than what started this 11 plus years ago. Thanks for the feedback. To be discusses with my neuro.
My neuro wanted me to switch to keep my progress up and so I'd have fallback options if I had any adverse reaction to a DMT. I am now on the 5th DMT, not because of my reaction, but the first because I got tired of injecting myself and it was less effective than hoped, followed by the 4 different infusion medicines. The first infusion DMT, Ocrevus, was (IMO) the best, but my current DMT, Briumvi, is equally great. When I switched from sticking my self to an infusion, both my reaction to the meds and my daily life improved!
Thank you. My question is born out of just being tired of sticking myself after all these years. I wouldn’t mind going for an infusion every so often, but I also don’t want to be tied to a clinic and a specific set of new side effects. I lost my hair to cancer and I don’t want to go through that again with one of the oral medication’s. I also don’t wish to have to think about getting a brain infection at this point in time. My Neurologist is pretty neutral on the three medications that I mentioned. She never said anything about infusions or other than oral medications and that may be because of what I asked?. I’m kind of at the point if it “ain’t broke why try and fix it
“?, but I am hurting a bit in my legs at injection sites and it is getting harder for me with hand strength to eject the medication pen. I also don’t like the idea of trying different meds so frequently when I am stable on both my MRIs and my physical status. What to do?
Neuro suggested “I pick”, based on info one of three” Aubagio, Tecifedera and Gylinia
