Members responded with deep empathy to the question about hard days, uncertain futures, and sleepless nights with MS, with many sharing that these feelings are completely normal and widely felt. Several members described their own sleep struggles, from spasms waking them at 4am to only getting a few broken hours, and shared coping strategies like keeping a massager nearby, using sleep medication, or slowly titrating off it over time. A recurring theme was the importance of mental health support, including therapy and psychiatry, along with retraining the mind through poetry, music, mindfulness, and leaning on faith and community to keep going.

I do have those thoughts from time to time. But WTF can we do about it. I hear my old Army instructor telling me to “Suck it up, cupcake!” And I get motivated again. I have a wife and family that needs me so I drive on!

I've been a 4-5 hour sleeper most of my life. I don't worry about my MS or the future. It truly is what it is.

I live by myself for most of the day and when I’m feeling down or lonely I turn on some music that will make me feel good. When one does that it releases endorphins so that the day will be better. Or find something that makes you feel happy. I know easier said then done but I have been there and so for me instead of feeling sorry for myself I turn to music. I you all can find something that makes the day easier for you.

I make a choice to not think on it. I use poetry sometimes when those thoughts come o write it. Sometimes I write over it with something else. As my therapist says the mind is made to expect and prepare so you have to retrain it. 🤗
