I've been on BRIUMVI for two years and love it! My MS neuro put me on it after my first med failed horribly. Best thing ever! I got some moderate infusion reaction on my second loading dose but, found out later that it was not the BRIUMVI it was the Solu-Medrol so no steroids for me. I take my pre-meds (Benadryl and Tylenol) at home a 1/2 hour before I leave for my infusion and just tell the infusion nurse how much and what time I took it to speed things up. My infusions now take about 45 minuets. So 45 minuets twice a year is not bad really. Make sure you hydrate a lot the day before and during (you can use the bathroom whenever you want) have a small meal of mostly protein and fiber. my annual MRI this year noted that my spinal lesions have shrunk in both size and mass. hope this helped.

A Show Full Answer

Briumvi (ublituximab) is a disease-modifying therapy (DMT) approved for relapsing forms of MS. It belongs to a group called anti-CD20 therapies, which work by targeting and reducing B cells that play a role in MS inflammation and attacks. It's given as an IV infusion, typically every six months after the initial doses.

A recent 5-year study had some pretty encouraging results:

- 92% of people taking Briumvi had no confirmed disability worsening
- It may help people with MS maintain independence and quality of life longer As with all DMTs, there are risks and benefits to weigh. Some general things to keep in mind with infusion-based therapies like Briumvi:

- Infusion reactions are possible, so pre-medications like antihistamines and acetaminophen are often given beforehand
- Hydrating well the night before and day of infusion has been shown to reduce infusion reactions significantly
- Plan to rest after your infusion — having someone drive you home is a good idea
- Some side effects may fade over time, while others may need to be managed with additional medications

It's really important to have an open conversation with your neurologist about your specific health profile, as individual risk factors can vary. Keeping your full medical team informed about all medications and supplements you're taking is also key.
