Members responded to a question about needle fatigue after 12 years of injections, with many sharing that they too feel emotionally and physically worn down by their injection routines, and that scar tissue and site breakdown are very real concerns. Several members shared practical tips like massaging injection sites, rotating to new areas like the legs, using ice packs before and after shots, and asking injection nurses to review technique. A recurring theme was the difficult balance between staying on a medication that is working well and the growing mental and physical toll of long-term injections, with many finding comfort in community support and hope in newer oral medication options.

I am coming up on my second year of Copaxone injections. I am seeing some tissue breakdown already. I can only imagine your situation of 12 years, so sorry. I had my injection nurse to come back just to review my technique. She suggested I massage the area and even apply an ice pack before/after the injection. I read somewhere they are coming up with a 3 times a week Copaxone 40ML that I am going to discuss with my doctor, because I am concerned about the tissue breakdown as well. I hope you get some relief.

I'm on year 13 on Copaxone. I am right there with you. Dr likes how I'm doing. But in September he said we can discuss again. I am more depressed about taking the shot them I am about having MS.

Whatever reaction did you have? Reason I ask this is because in September of last year I was hospitalized when I lost 70 pounds. Doctors note I said doctors had no idea when all of a sudden I lost much weight. A huge amount of fluid buildup in my abdomen and around my heart and lungs. They drain off extra fluid and it equaled 7.5 liters of fluid. The fluid went through numerous studies and tests and the doctors cannot find anything out of normal. Unfortunately, five weeks later the fluid returned and again had drained off this time, the smaller amount 5.2 L. I am wondering if this is caused by the Copaxone? My neurologist cannot find anything in the manufacturers paperwork that highlights this type of reaction.

I never got fatigued from the Copaxone, however like Glen I have received difficulties and I had to stop using. I am currently contemplating on going back on the Copaxone because I really did feel a difference in my overall health when I was taking it. The reason why I suddenly had stopped using it was I had one of those reactions that everyone talks about. I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital. Within a half hour of taking my shot, I received heart palpatations and was very anxious. Almost like a major anxiety attack. It lasted for about 45 minutes then it went away. It scared me so much, I stopped it. But it has been about 6 months off the Copaxone and I can feel the decline. In spite of the attack, I felt much better taking it.
