Side effects vary for each person. I took betaseron and now extavia (same stuff with a different name). I never did have the flu symptoms. Took some Tylenol just in case but quickly quit because I didn't need it. I too take it just before bed. The nurse is helpful with tips and tricks. Good luck!

Hi Kelly - I agree, I was on Betaseron for 10 yrs. I always did the shot at night, I took ibuprofen as well to help with the side effects. I kept ibuprofen with me the next day just in case I still didn't feel good. I would say to start it on a weekend when you have Saturday or Sunday to see how you will feel the next day.

I agree with Suz, as long as you take the Ibuprofen before you take it you will be ok, once its in your system you will be Good

Take it at night, take Advil before the shot, stay hydrated!! The flu like symptoms will lessen over time. Be sure to take time for your self!

I was on betas wrong for many years when I was first diagnosed. Just rotate your sites and do the injections before you go to sleep so hopefully you sleep through the side effects
