Have anybody had to stop their medication because of high liver enzymes? I got a call yesterday (July 3) from my neurologist saying my enzymes were high and I'll have to repeat my labs in 6 weeks to check again. I honestly thought ALL of these MS meds effect the liver in one way or another. What did your dr do?
@A MyMSTeam Member I didn't take charcoal, I don't remember the name of it but it's a cholesterol drug. It binds to the aubagio and removes it from your blood. It was supposed to taste like orange (I'm convinced that drug companies don't know what fruit tastes like!) I mixed it with orange Gatorade to try and mask the taste. Here they only use charcoal if for some reason you can't use the other. My liver enzymes slowly crept up over months. It's possible they may keep you on it, my doctor seem to think slightly is okay.
@A MyMSTeam Member. I was on aubagio for three years before I had an issue.
Thank you @A MyMSTeam Member, I read the entire brochure last night, read the reaction data, decided the leap was worth it. I am OK this morning after taking it last night. My liver didn't jump out of my body or anything like that. I didn't have flaming diarrhea yet. And I can't remember the other ones. Obviously, it doesn't help memory. Ha!
Exactly @A MyMSTeam Member. October will be 18 months for me because they told me that's the longest I could be on it. Dr say a person can't be on aubagio for a long period of time but when I posted about that in an earlier post, I was shocked to see that others on aubagio wasn't told that. The way things looking for me I don't think I'm going to make that 18 month mark. My prayers for you is that you have no issues and this the right one for you.
It is prescribed, I had mine covered so I don't remember how much it was. It tasted awful But it took the aubagio out of me in weeks rather than years. My liver enzymes went down fast too
I had to go off Rebif due to high liver enzymes. I actually ended up in the hospital my levels got so high, I went off the Rebif for 2 months and we had to wait for my counts to get back to normal. Doc put me on tecfidera and my body is responding so much better and my liver enzymes are back to normal.
