My experience was my family and friends just didn't get MS and, over time, I grew not just being relieved by that fact but also very happy they had no clue of MS as they could have no personal experience with MS symptoms. Once I told some old friends that lived no where near where I did that I had MS which made me comfortable with that fact, I found others misunderstanding MS almost comical. I found myself feeling more sorry for people with the guts to comment on MS than me worrying about my MS.

Most people that know me accept that I have MS and they treat me as a friend.

It makes them uncomfortable, and I often feel like it's bigger problem for them. But there are some people who informed themselves about illness and are trying to make our relationship feel safe and understanding

I went through the worst part alone. My mother said I was making up MS so I wouldn't have to work anymore. Siblings said I didn't look sick, and they didn't believe anything was wrong with me. I don't talk to them anymore. It's a waste of my time to do so.

@A MyMSTeam Member What Does MS look like??? It’s so RIDICULOUS you don’t look sick??? Well I guess falling down, not urinating for days at a time (this was before my diagnosis) not being able to hold your bowels wearing adult diapers, oh your Brain looks like a 90 year olds ( this is what my first neurologist said to me at 33) like I really never understand that statement “You don’t look sick “ Well we feel sick, people!!! I feel sad for those people I actually had someone go on a campaign to tell others that nothing was wrong with me and that myself and my mother just wanted to try to make it sound worse than it really was, I was Initially hurt, but got over it. They weren’t worth it and really try to downplay me because it isn’t cancer.…..some people try to act like if it isn’t CANCER it isn’t that big of a deal, all illness deserves compassion and empathy 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ but I choose to just let it go, move on, pray for the person and those that bought the nonsense 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I really do find people like that to be sad 😞 individuals, but I am blessed with a AWESOME MOM & GRANNY, they are my rider dye chicks 🏍️🏍️and it just allows us to find out who the true blue friends really are💞💞💞💞💞 Sadly it’s a tough life lesson but toxic people are so not good for MS…. I appreciate my tight knit circle 🥰💞🥰💞🥰
