I’m currently on Orcevus and my doctor suggested I take an antibiotic for 90 days called valacyclovir 1gm. Is anyone else on these as well

Valacyclovir is an antiviral medication. Treats shingles or herpes infections. One of the side effects of Ocrevus is shingles in some individuals. He is giving you this as preventative meds for possible shingles. That’s a good thing. I’ve had shingles . Not something you want. Anyone who has had chickenpox can have shingles do to the same virus that cause chickenpox.

@A MyMSTeam Member hey patty ocrevus is for to treat the MS and the other medication is basically an anti viral medication and since a side effect of ocrevus is shingles the doctor prescribed the Valacyclovir so that you don’t catch it.

I don’t take either of those. 90 days seems like a long course of an antibiotic.
Why is it being prescribed?
