My doctor's office screwed up royally with my prior off for my Mayzent. I have been off of my drug for 2 months and I'm having new symptoms like numbness and tingling in my fingers and my tongue and my mouth. How is that possible when all of my MRIs came back with no new active demyelination? Now that I am starting my medication again will those symptoms go away since there are no new lesions?
talk this over with your doctors..
I have read that lesions & progression do not always go hand in hand π§π
Lesions are only a marker for MS, they do not correspond to symptoms per say. White matter only makes up less than 24% of the brain and approx 35% of the spinal cord. Grey matter makes up the rest and yes it is getting damaged by the inflammation from the immune system, and you will never see it by MRI.
It's understandable to be concerned about new symptoms despite clear MRI results. Here are some points to consider:
- MRI Limitations: MRIs may not always detect microscopic changes or early stages of demyelination
- Symptom Fluctuations: MS symptoms can fluctuate due to various factors, including stress, infections, or Show Full Answer
I've had no new lesions since 2018 but symptoms are getting worse. My doctor told me that damage has already been done by the lesions that are there, that used to be active.
